Meet Our Doctor

Dr. Kelley Perkins

I first arrived in Charleston, SC as a teenager from my hometown of Chicago, IL, reporting for active duty as a corpsman in the pediatric department of the now defunct Charleston Naval Hospital. After transferring, I became passionate about the eye care and eyewear field while attending the world-renowned Naval Ophthalmic Support and Training Activity (NOSTRA), to become an optician.

After serving with the U.S. Navy and becoming a licensed optician, I felt I had more to offer. After many years of study, I went on to graduate from the New England College of Optometry.

I founded Perkins Eyecare in 2006 and after a number of years practicing in the Moncks Corner area, I decided it was time to move the practice closer to Charleston. We are now serving in the revitalized area of Park Circle, North Charleston. PE+E gives me the perfect space to intermingle my love of eyewear and the human interaction of eye care; hence our motto: “See well, Be well.”

Dr. Perkins graduated from the College of Charleston in 2001, with a BS in Biology and later the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, in 2005.

Dr. Perkins is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the South Carolina Optometric Physician Association.
